Oh What A Year! As I contemplate the end of a year and the ushering in of a new one, I marvel at how the days have shaped up to be something quite marvelous. The creative process is such a metaphor for life. We have a blank canvas, we try a few things, feel discouraged at what we see or feel and we go back in, over and over and over, thinking, shaping and working, pushing paint, all in an effort to force a desired result. Finally, we realize we need to stop fighting and just accept where it is going and let whatever is meant to be, be. Go with The Flow. The beauty emerges, the heart sings. All because we stepped into the struggle and went on The Journey. Isn't it amazing how we live each day - some good, some joyful, some painful - but when we look back on the entirety, like this finished year, we can see that it all works out exactly as it was meant to. We learn, we grow, we create. And it's beautiful. 2023 has been quite a journey for me - here is a glimpse of it. A Year To Remember. _____ So. Much. Fun. You know that feeling when you see something so beautiful that it almost hurts? I had that over and over as I traveled to the Chesapeake, Georgia, France, Jackson Hole and East Hampton with dear friends. How lucky am I? Taking my paints to these gorgeous places, breathing the air, being with other artists - this is my lifeblood. And the cherry on the sundae? I was part of the inaugural team launching Plein Air at the Arboretum last September. Painting the River at Allure Painting the River at Allure Wish we had smellivision! It's where Vincent Van Gogh spent many years and where he painted the works you know and love. It is a peaceful and spiritual place and has been turned into an artist residency program. Painting the very olive groves where he painted was so very special and a memory I will cherish forever. I want to go back and spend a summer here - bucket list! Can you feel the air, smell the breeze? Sunrise in Jackson Wyoming Sunrise in Jackson Wyoming East Hampton Beach East Hampton Beach _____ I Moved Into My Studio! Unexpectedly I was offered a spot in the Columbia Pike Artists Studios and, as luck would have it, the timing was perfect. The co-op houses 20+ artists and I can now immerse myself in a more intentional way in my art practice. I have an amazing studio partner, Margaret Stewart, who is a fabulous painter and friend. It's so energizing to be around other artists and all the creative energy. Thanks to all who stopped by our Open House (next one will be Spring 2024) If you are around, reach out and stop by! My New Studio My New Studio _____ May this coming year for you, for all of us, be filled with unexpected wonder, connection and creativity. What will you do with your blank canvas? I can't wait to see! Much love, Laura _____ {{FASO_DOMAIN_VISIBLE}} {{AM_COMPANY_NAME}} {{AM_COMPANY_ADDRESS}} {{AM_CSZ}} {{AM_COUNTRY}} Unsubscribe Sent with ArtfulMail
